Federal Council Releases Draft Initial Funded Priorities List; Announces Public Meetings

 

The Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (or "Federal Council") today released a draft Initial Funded Priorities List (draft FPL). The draft FPL would fund approximately $139.6 million in restoration activities such as hydrologic restoration, land conservation, and planning for large-scale restoration projects. The Council is also reserving approximately $43.6 million for implementation of future implementation activities, subject to further Council review. The draft FPL proposes to utilize funds from the settlement with Transocean Deepwater Inc., in accordance with the RESTORE Act.

 

Draft FPL - Projects Proposed in Alabama: The complete draft Initial Funded Priorities list can be reviewed at www.RestoreTheGulf.gov. For convenience, the activities proposed to directly benefit Alabama are described below.

 

The draft FPL proposes to fund Category 1 projects while prioritizing Category 2 projects for further review and possible future funding.
